Welcome. It's a pleasure to have you here today. You were hand chosen to be here. I must also say that it's been wonderful having Kirsten involved in this. Kirsten started this work in Chicago. This session is the third in the series. The previous one was in Boston, its focus was on SRI and community financing. The next one is in New York, it focuses on capital markets. This program has an opportunity to create concrete results and we at the Fed are committed to helping turn your dreams into reality. We have to plug the Center for Community Development Investments. We have interns from Berkeley here, they're working on a secondary markets publication now that will be part of our work. We'd like to put you all on the mailing list, so be sure to let John know your contact information. Now, I'd like to introduce John Olson, Director for the Center of Community Development Investments here at the San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank..

It's my job to go over the logistics. I told Kirsten that on the hierarchy of needs I'm covering the bottom. But Kirsten reminded me that the bottom is the foundation. Restrooms are just out the front doors. All the food and beverages will be right outside -- breakfast, lunch, and tonight's reception. Smoking areas are on the fourth floor. Please let me know if you're missing a temporary security badge. The badges will be used to get you out the revolving doors tonight. Tomorrow morning you'll go through the same process you went through this morning to get into the building.
All the proceedings will be recorded with video and audio, but cell phones are interfering with the recording, so please turn your phones off. If you need to check messages go into the hallway and use the lounge around the corner. We're really happy to be here and to have a role in the program. Thanks.

I'd like to add my thanks to the San Francisco Fed, John and Jack are doing a terrific job. I'd also like to thank my partners, Greg Ratliff and the marvelous team at Innovation Labs. Today is all about you. We have the participants from the four charettes and some great speakers all here to help us collaborate and create. We'll have time in this session to try and do things collaboratively. One thing we will do differently is that Greg and I will do our presentation as a conversation.
I'd like to thank our supporters. Our conference partner is the Federal Reserve System. Our research partners are: F.B. Heron foundation, GE Consumer Finance - Americas, and Deutsche Bank. Our previous partners include: The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur, and the Fannie May Foundation. And most of all, I would like to thank you participants for attending and adding your expertise and experience.
Hopefully you all went to the website and read all the pre-reads. Greg and I are going to give you some highlights from our findings then we're going to have a panel come on and talk about collaboration. Then Langdon will talk about the collaborative part of the two days. |
