OK - let's hear from the groups. We've had some attrition with people going to the airport. We've got a few minutes to hear from each of the two teams then Alfreda and Kirsten will give us some closing comments. Who would like to go first?

Our main goals is to get everyone cheap money (lower then market costs). The other piece was the peer learning. One of the big bonuses that comes from this kind of alliance is peer learning. Our action plan at this point is research. We need to research the Farm Credit System. There are a few models out there and we'll reconvene on December 12th here at the Fed. We've got our little committee and we'll see where we go from there. We picked March 2007 to have a really good idea - March 26-28 - and we'll make this a breakout if there is an interest.

As far as actions we want to create an understanding of what Opportunity Finance has already done so we aren't re-creating the wheel. We want to get the regulators on board. We want to raise money for a professional survey and planner. To involve the TACDC to channel the campaign through. Create an overall timeline and outline and present information on what we found. We didn't get to the point where we assign things to people. I was hoping a PR company would take the lead. We would target banks, high net worth individuals to get their feedback. Comment - the reason I hope TACDC would take the lead is because there are wonderful statistics about what CDCs have accomplished. We don't have a good definition of what a CDC is and it doesn't have a face to it. We get hung up on things like defining what we do - when you say environment there are so many subsets and there are dramatic differences between what people do. We get stuck on terms like healthcare or environment. We find something that encapsulates what we do and these distinctions can fall underneath that. We agreed that this needs to be nationwide but Texas would play a big role in that. |
